Play without pressure
Exploring together leaves room for an attempt, a mistake, and a new way to solve a task.
Get to know the task first
Choose one game and read the instruction above the board. Ask the child to explain the task in their own words. If the rule is unclear, show one example and let them make the next move.
Ask about the process
Questions such as "How did you notice that?" or "What would you like to try next?" open a conversation. Every move does not need immediate correction. Leave time to notice changes on the board and choose another attempt.
Stop when it is enough
Age and difficulty help you choose a starting point. They are not an ability score. If the activity stops being enjoyable, take a break or choose a simpler task. Completed-game counts are only a local play record.
